Larry David documentary ‘shelved indefinitely’ after being mysteriously pulled hours before release

Larry David’s documentary that he pulled just hours before it was meant to be released on HBO has reportedly been ‘shelved indefinitely’.

The Larry David Story was expected to feature interviews with the Curb Your Enthusiast creator and star, 74, looking back at his childhood and career with director Larry Charles.

However, HBO announced on March 1 that the comic had other last minute plans.

In a statement on Twitter, HBO confirmed: ‘The #LarryDavidStory on @HBOMax is being postponed.

‘Instead, Larry has decided he wants to do it in front of an audience. Stay tuned for more info.’

According to Puck, The Larry David Story has been ‘pulled indefinitely’ because Larry ‘didn’t love it’.

Fans were slightly baffled by the move, with one asking: ‘But an interview isn’t the same thing as a documentary.. why one instead of the other?’

‘Is this joke?’ said another.

Even the trailer for the documentary has been removed from YouTube.

In it, Larry said: ‘I’m a total fraud. The Curb outlet, for me, is the guy who I want to be. He’s completely honest, just the opposite of who I am.’

He also joked that his enormous success was still never quite enough to impress his mother.

‘My mother would call me up and go, “Larry, do they like you? Do they tell you you’re doing a good job?”‘ he recalled.

‘”Yeah, Ma, they like me. [Seinfeld] show is number one in the country,”‘ he replied.

‘”But did they tell you, do they think you’re doing well?” he laughed, recollecting her pressing him.

It remains unclear if the documentary will air at all or be replaced with the interview.

The original documentary was meant to be released in two parts, titled American Jewboy and The Jewish Fountainhead.
