Nickelodeon star Kirk Baily has died aged 59

Kirk Baily has died at the age of 59.

The Nickelodeon actor, best known for playing Kevin ‘Ug’ Lee in Salute Your Shorts, died over the weekend.

His family confirmed the news to TMZ, with the publication reporting that he died from lung cancer.

According to the outlet, he had been diagnosed with the condition six months ago.

Baily first began his career as a sound co-ordinator before making a name for himself as a voice actor, working on anime projects including Mobile Suit Gundam, Vampire Princess Miyu and Trigun.

He also had a string of guest roles on Melrose Place, Judging Amy, Beverly Hills, 90120, and Felicity.

His most notable role came in beloved Nickelodeon series Salute Your Shorts in 1991, appearing in 26 episodes of the series.

The show ran for two seasons and focused on the lives of campers at the fictional Camp Anawanna – based on Steve Slavkin’s 1986 book Salute Your Shorts: Life at Summer Camp.
