Trevor Noah took to the stage at the Grammys last night to host the illustrious awards ceremony, and take a few swipes at the Royal Family along the way.

The comedian mocked the monarchy following the bombshell Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview with Oprah Winfrey, and also hit out at Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Speaking at the Los Angeles Convention Centre, Trevor spoke about the importance of music as a morale booster during a turbulent year.

He then pointed to the celebrity nominees, saying that there is ‘more tension in that tent than at a family reunion at Buckingham Palace.’

It comes after The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a number of shock accusations about the Royal Family in their two-hour interview.

In the interview, Meghan revealed she had suicidal thoughts as she struggled with royal life. She also alleged an unnamed member of the Royal Family raised ‘concerns and conversations’ about how dark her son Archie’s skin might be before he was born.

Elsewhere in Trevor’s Grammys address, he joked that the ceremony would be the ‘biggest outdoor event this year besides the storming of the Capitol’, which saw Donald Trump supporters force their way into the meeting place of the United States Congress in shocking scenes.

Trevor also took aim at the PM after Harry Styles took to the stage to perform his single Watermelon Sugar, saying: ‘It’s crazy to think that someone that talented and handsome is from the same place as Boris Johnson.’

The comedian added: ‘Tonight we’re hoping that this is all about what 2021 can be, full of joy, new beginnings and coming together.

‘Never forgetting what happened in 2020 but full of hope for what is to come.’

The performers for the 63rd Grammy Awards included BTS, Dua Lipa, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, as well as Taylor Swift and more.

The ceremony saw Beyonce rack up her 28th Grammy and break the record for the singer with the most wins ever.
