WWE and AEW legend CM Punk breaks down in tears during press conference after emotional and bloody match

CM Punk fought back tears during an emotional press conference following last night’s AEW Revolution show.
The former world champion – who made a sensational return to wrestling last year after leaving WWE under acrimonious circumstances in 2014 – defeated on-screen rival MJF in a bloody Dog Collar Match on the show, but there was a lot more for Punk to soak in.
From the moment boss Tony Khan opened the post-show media scrum up to questions, Punk appeared choked up and said: ‘I’m great. I’m warning you all now, I’m probably going to start crying at some point, ’cause I’m very emotional right now.’
Before the match even began earlier in the night, the veteran star delighted fans by coming out to AFI track Miseria Cantare, which he used as his entrance music during his time in Ring of Honor.
His ring gear was also a throwback to that stage of his career, and it’s clear news that AEW president Khan’s purchase of ROH has struck a chord with Punk.
As he started to cry, he reflected on his choices at Revolution and told the media: ‘It was pretty important. I loved ROH so much. I can’t explain how happy I am that my footage is in good hands. It’s good to know that it’s in the hands of somebody that will treat it well.
‘I literally feel that my baby is in somebody’s hands that I know will raise the child the right way and do good things with it and it won’t get made into some tab on a s***ty confusing app that is hard to navigate.’
For a long time, Punk had distanced himself from wrestling before AEW gave him the opportunity to step back into that world and rediscover his love.
‘I didn’t get to do this for seven years, this didn’t exist for seven years for me. Obviously, the truth is, I love professional wrestling very much,’ he added, as transcribed by Fightful.

‘To come back and to be able to, for six months, not just do whatever the f**k you want, it’s doing whatever the f**k you want and being cocky enough to know that your way is… not the right way, there is never one right way, but it’s f**king good.
‘To have somebody that listens to you and have somebody that can take an idea and make it even better and to have an open dialogue. Not just with [Tony Khan], but with other people in the locker room.
‘It’s great that you don’t have to beat your head against the wall and explain why your ideas are s***ty and why, I don’t care who you think you are, you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s nice. Everything is just so great.’
