Helena Bonham-Carter has gushed about her boyfriend Rye Dag Holmboe, who is 22 years younger than her, but has insisted that wedding bells do not yet beckon.

The actress, 55, has been in a relationship with the art historian, 33, since a chance encounter at a wedding in 2018.

Helena split from film director Tim Burton in 2014 after a 13-year relationship, and Rye was her first long-term union after that.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Helena said she feels ‘very lucky’ to have met Rye but did add that she is in ‘no rush’ to tie the knot.

‘I wasn’t married the first time,’ The Crown star added, referencing her long-term relationship with Tim.

Helena and Tim famously lived in interconnecting houses during their time together, with each property decorated with his and her interiors and personal styles.

However, last year it was revealed that Helena moved in with her partner, according to the Daily Mail, and they even adopted some house rabbits, as you do.

Speaking about how they met, Helena previously told the Guardian: ‘A totally random thing, which both of us nearly didn’t go to, so it was one of those moments that was so chance and ended up determining so much.

‘A really happy accident, and it’s an amazing thing.’

Addressing their 22-year age gap, Helena also told the Times in a previous chat: ‘Everybody ages at a different rate. My boyfriend is unbelievably mature. He’s an old soul in a young body, what more could I want?

‘People are slightly frightened of older women, but he isn’t. Women can be very powerful when they’re older.’

Helena shares two children with her ex-husband Tim – Billy, 18, and Nell, 14.

In 2019, Rye and Helena went public, five years after her split from Tim.

Speaking of Rye, she added: ‘I’m very happy with someone else. It’s been a bit of unexpected magic in my life.’
