When is Eurovision 2022 and how to watch in the UK?

Eurovision – the glittery and glamourous all-singing all-dancing competition – is fast-approaching.

Britain has yet another chance to go for gold after the UK placed last two years in a row – with last year’s entry, James Newman’s Ember, scoring ‘nil points’.

The nation’s hopes and dreams are now pinned on TikTok star Sam Ryder, who will represent the UK with his hit song Space Man.

Here is everything you need to know about watching this year’s competition.

When and where will Eurovision 2022 happen?

As always, Eurovision 2022 will consist of three stages; the first semi-final, the second semi-final, and the final.

While May 10 and May 12 will see the two semi-finals take place, May 14 is when a winner will be crowned.

The three live shows will be hosted by Italian TV presenter Alessandro Cattelan, singer Laura Pausini, and British-Lebanese singer Mika.

This year’s competition will be located in Turin, in Italy’s PalaOlimpico arena, following the country’s victory at the 2021 contest.

The Italian rock band, Maneskin, had taken the win home with their song ‘Zitti e buoni’.

How can I get tickets to see Eurovision 2022?

Tickets aren’t up for sale just yet, but the official Eurovision website promises that that information about ticket sales will be released ‘in the coming weeks’.

Fans are encouraged to keep a close eye on existing and potential travel restrictions between their home country and Turin, Italy.

How can I watch Eurovision 2022 in the UK?

The semi-finals that are taking place on Tuesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 12, will be broadcast on BBC Three and be available on BBC iPlayer.

The Grand Final on Saturday, May 14, will start at 8pm and be available to view on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Fans will also be able to catch the competition on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

Eurovision airs on May 14 at 8pm on BBC One.
