Magomed Ankalaev Extends His Winning Streak Against Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 50; Calls for Title Shot Next
Magomed Ankalaev added to his win streak with a unanimous decision win against once light heavyweight title challenger Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 50.
Magomed Ankalaev took control of the center of the octagon from the start and pushed Santos into the fence right from round 1. The first round was a rather effortless one for both the counter strikers as each of them waited and tried to read their opponent, occasionally exchanging timed blows.
Santos upped the ante in the second round as he wobbled the Dagestani in the last minute of the fight. Ankalaev fell to the mat with a powerful shot from Santos after hitting ‘Marreta’ with a clean knee.

The third round again looked interesting as Santos went into the fight with his hands swinging and tried to get Ankalaev with a combination, but Santos was unable to do so. The 29-year-old again took the center stage and traded blows with his opponent throughout.
With the culmination of the third round, the Dagestani entered the championship rounds for the first time in his life at the main event of UFC Vegas 50. Ankalaev ended the round with a clean takedown, which helped get the round for himself.
