2022 Players Championship: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner’s Payout
Bad weather conditions are delaying the 2022 PLAYERS Championship. However, of course, that would never stop the golfers from winning the event. Before we find out the winner of the 2022 edition of the tournament, let’s find out what the winners would bag after.
The Players Stadium Course at the TPC Sawgrass is hosting the tournament this week. Designed by the famous golf course architects Alice and Pete Dye, the course is situated in Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida; the Course has been hosting the PLAYERS since 1982.
With the field including almost 50 top players of the world, the competition at the TPC Sawgrass would be tough. Interestingly, all the Top 30 from the FedEx standings are playing at the event, making it the first event of the season to achieve this feat.
Like at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Bryson DeChambeau withdrew from the fifth major this week citing his injuries. He became one of the few others, including Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, to not commit to the championship.
The purse money of the tournament
The purse money of the PLAYERS Championship of 2022 is $20 million. The champion would bag the $3,600,000 out of the purse money, which is the standard 18 percent payout according to the PGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart.

A cut will be made after Round 2 of the tournament, and only the Top 65 and the ties will advance to the last two rounds. However, they can win the prize money only if they finish the final round.

While the prize money is the highlight of the championship, there are other benefits that only the champion would receive. The winner will receive 600 FedEx points and 80 Official World Golf Ranking points.
He will get a five-plus season exemption at the PGA Tour. The winning at the event will also ensure a direct qualification at the 2022 Masters and PGA Championship and 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions.
