Ex-WWE star Ricardo Rodriguez going back to rehab for alcohol addiction following relapse

Former WWE star Ricardo Rodriguez is going back to rehab after a relapse.
The 36-year-old star – who is best known to fans for his spell as Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer – has been open about his battle with alcohol addiction, and he has cancelled all bookings as he focuses on his recovery.
He tweeted: ‘I fell. I’m heading back to rehab. I’m pulling from all bookings till further notice.’
In May last year, Rodriguez revealed he had just celebrated one year of sobriety after a stay in rehab.
He has received a wealth of positive messages of support from fans and fellow performers, including wrestling legend Ricky Morton.
The Hall of Famer wrote: ‘It is okay, my friend. We are rooting for you. Take care of yourself and see you soon.’
Rodriguez replied: ‘It’s a b***h this addiction thing is.. just when you think you’ve got it conquered.’
And responding to another kind post from AEW’s KiLynn King, he added: ‘The worst part is the damn guilt trip and the burnt bridges. Hope to one day being able to make amends (sic)’
WWE NXT star Trick Williams was also among those to offer their support, as he said: ‘Praying for you brotha.’
SmackDown referee Jason Ayers tweeted: ‘It’s not about the fall. It’s about getting back up. You got this.’
And ex-WWE star Lince Dorado wrote: @You got this fam’.

Ever since started in the business back in 2006, he’s worked in a wealth of roles including ring announcer, manager, trainer, referee and wrestler himself.
He debuted alongside Del Rio in 2010, and briefly worked under a mask himself while also serving on the Spanish commentary team.
He was released by the company back in 2014, and has gone onto work on the independent scene while also helping upcoming talent.
