Charlotte Crosby added to influencer ‘name and shame’ list for hiding that she was paid for Instagram posts

CHARLOTTE Crosby has been outed for allegedly failing to declare she was paid for some posts on her Instagram.

The advertising regulator has added the reality star to its ‘named and shamed’ list for “repeatedly” failing to be “upfront and clear when her social media posts are ads”.

Influencers are expected to tell users if they are paid to show off products in posts using something like #ad in the caption.

But the Geordie Shore legend’s management told The Sun the only product she ever used was a tanning gel.

“Charlotte would never knowingly promote a company illegally selling unlicensed products and to suggest otherwise is untrue, highly defamatory, malicious and actionable,” her rep said.

Crosby, 31, joins Amber Gill, who has been on the watch list since January.

Tyne-Lexy Clarson and Scotty T were also put on in December.

The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) keeps alleged rule breakers on the list for three months.

Their posts are subject to enhanced monitoring to decide whether they meet the regulator’s standards.

“We prefer to work with influencers and brands to help them stick to the rules, but Charlotte Crosby has repeatedly failed to be upfront and clear when her social media posts are ads,” a regulator spokesperson said.

“It’s not difficult: be upfront and clear when posts and Stories are ads.

“If this doesn’t bring about the changes we expect, we won’t hesitate to consider further sanctions.”

In January, annoyed officials went a step further, running their own ads on Instagram exposing six stars for not sorting it out.

They called out Francesca Allen, Belle Hassan, Twins Jess and Eve Gale, Anna Vakili, and Jodie Marsh, who have all since been removed from the list.
