“It’s the One Team I Didn’t Want Him to Go to,” DJ Lemahieu Ahead of the Signing of Former Teammate Trevor Story With Rival Red Sox

New York Yankees’ infielder DJ LeMahieu expressed his views about the signing of Trevor Story to the Boston Red Sox. The two used to be teammates at the Colorado Rockies till the MLB 2018 season until LeMahieu decided to sign with the New York Yankees for the 2019 season.

Trevor Story has reportedly agreed to join the Boston Red Sox with a six-year deal of $140 million. There is a huge possibility that Story can be shifted to the second base from being a shortstop. 29-year-old Xander Bogaerts has been playing with the Red Sox as a starting shortstop since the MLB 2014 season. Enrique Hernandez, who is a second base player for the Red Sox, will most likely move to the center field to make way for Trevor Story.

DJ LeMahieu’s Statement on Trevor Story

DJ LeMahieu, who is the current infielder for the New York Yankees, was a teammate of Trevor Story. The duo used to play together for the Colorado Rockies from the MLB 2016 to the MLB 2018 season. DJ LeMahieu, also known as David John LeMahieu, was quite astonished when he heard the news that Story had agreed to join the Boston Red Sox.

“It’s the one team I didn’t want him to go to. He’s a great player. You don’t want to have to face him so many times. But I texted him yesterday and I am excited for him. He’s very athletic, he can play anywhere,” LeMahieu said on Monday, March 21st, 2022.
