Cristiano Ronaldo SNUBBED for 2020-21 Serie A Player of the Season despite being top scorer as Romelu Lukaku takes crown
CRISTIANO RONALDO has been snubbed for Serie A Player of the Season with Romelu Lukaku taking the award… despite being top scorer.
Ronaldo’s 29 Serie A goals were not enough to edge out Lukaku when it came to the gong, but the pair did both secure moves back to the Premier League.

Lukaku received the award on Monday, which once again prompted him to hail the Inter Milan faithful.
He told AIC on accepting his award: “The club [Inter] always backed us and so did the fans who I want to thank.”
The Belgian forward played a vital role in Antonio Conte’s title winning side last season, scoring 24 goals in 36 appearances.
While the 28-year-old’s impact cannot be underestimated it was 37-year-old Ronaldo who finished as the league’s top scorer with 29, five goals ahead of his Belgian rival.

The now Chelsea striker received the award just months after sitting down with Sky Italia, where he confessed his love for the Inter fans and outlined his desire to one day return to the San Siro.
After a combined 53 Serie A goals last season both Ronaldo and Lukaku secured moves back to their original Premier League clubs.
Lukaku’s £97.5million move to Chelsea was to be Roman Abramovich’s final splurge in a transfer window.
Ronaldo meanwhile may not have raised eyebrows in terms of a transfer fee, but a reunion with Manchester United fans had seemed almost unimaginable.

Neither Ronaldo or Lukaku are having particularly impressive seasons, but the former has at least shown moments of match winning brilliance in a reminder he’s not done yet.
After a spell out with injury and a rocky relationship with boss Thomas Tuchel following his Sky Italia interview, Lukaku has yet to re-discover the goal scoring form he showed at Inter.
With less than 10 games to go it remains to be seen whether or not the pair will remain in the Premier League next season, as Chelsea face a financial crunch and United a managerial change.
