Tiger Woods Is Not Ruled Out of the 2022 Masters Just Yet

When Tiger Woods met with a car crash last February, there were doubts about the PGA Tour icon ever playing golf again. Woods’ leg was injured, and he remained sidelined till the PNC Championship late last year. However, it did not confirm his PGA Tour comeback.

As days pass, there is no official announcement made from Woods’ side.

However, this does not rule him out of the Masters field just yet.

Will Tiger Woods play at the Masters?

As of now, Woods is still a part of The Masters field at the Augusta National Golf Club. This means that while there is no official announcement, one can consider a positive outcome. Of course, no one can confirm until there is an official announcement.

Furthermore, the Master website apparently lists past champions not playing. Woods, who has won the event five times, is not on that list.

Woods himself has spoken of his return multiple times, the message quite clear – no one can be certain. While he was well enough to play the PNC Championship with Charlie, a PGA Tour event is something else altogether. Players have been performing at a high level and Woods will need to work a lot to reach that level again.

Does Woods know when he will return?

“I don’t know,” said Woods. “I can hit balls. The hard part is actually walking; that’s going to take some time”.

The 46-year-old added that he will have to put in the time and effort at home to work towards this. However, it is a completely different deal than actually being out there and moving around on the course. “The ankle mobility, over time the ankle swells, foot swells, leg swells. That’s just time”.

Of course, Woods himself does want to get back out there and play. But there is no timeline, and the process is frustrating. The 82-time PGA Tour champion has dealt with a back injury before and has struggled to get back in the form previously.

Unfortunately, Woods’ return might take longer than expected. One can only wait for Woods to play again, hoping for a speedy recovery soon.
