Piers Morgan out for ‘revenge’ as he issues warning to ‘high-profile woke hypocrites’ following GMB exit
Any celebrities who critiqued Piers Morgan amid his departure from Good Morning Britain beware – he has suggested he has ‘revenge’ on the mind as he catches up on the mentions following his sudden ITV exit.
The host – who fronted the flagship programme alongside Susanna Reid for five years – handed in his resignation last week following masses of Ofcom complaints about comments he made about Meghan Markle’s mental health and her claims of racism within the royal family during her tell-all Oprah interview.
While we can’t imagine much fazing the journalist, he’s clearly playing catch-up on who’s said what, as he waged war on the ‘high-profile’ critics who’ve passed comment in the past week.
He issued a warning on Tuesday which read: ‘Memo to all high-profile, insufferably woke, unctuously virtue-signalling, shamefully race-baiting hypocrites: I’m watching, and I will retaliate.’
It appeared Piers was keeping tabs on who had his back following his controversial exit and who didn’t, as one punter noticed he was replying to certain messages.
They proferred: ‘@piersmorgan is going through some celebs tweets at him from last week and I am screaming #shotsfired.’
Responding, Piers wrote: ‘I never miss a thing. And revenge is always a dish best tasted cold.’
Showing he doesn’t have his mentions muted, after Chelsea Handler shared a frosty interview with Piers on his CNN show in the US and wrote: ‘Some a***ole’s get better. Some just stay the same. @piersmorgan,’ he took a swipe at the comedian’s proclivity for getting her kit off on social media (often to raise attention for important issues, may we add, which is very much her prerogative).
Piers replied, as many called out his comment for shaming women: ‘Was that the last time you appeared in public with your clothes on?’
He’d also ignited a feud with Jedward this week after the duo suggested the statue of Winston Churchill, which is under police guard, should be placed in Piers’s backyard as it has ‘no place in society’.
The Life Stories host was also responding to more praising comments – got to keep things balanced – as Dragon’s Den’s Duncan Bannatyne said he missed the presenter holding MPs to account on GMB.
He replied: ‘Thanks Duncan, I appreciate that.. I’ll definitely keep holding Govt to account, don’t worry.’
His exit followed Ofcom’s investigation announcement into GMB after 41,000 complaints were made referring to Piers ‘not believing’ Meghan’s comments about her mental health struggles.
ITV released a statement regarding Piers’ departure, which read: ‘Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.’
Since his exit, fans have been campaigning for his return to the show, with almost 200,000 signing petitions, however, Piers has ruled out coming back to the programme.
‘I won’t be going back, but thanks to everyone who has signed these petitions,’ he said in a tweet. ‘Normally, people start petitions to have me fired or deported, so this is a pleasant surprise.’
It is not yet known what the journalist’s next career move will be, but he has promised that he will be back after being ‘cancelled’ by the ‘woke crowd’.
Speculation around his next move is already rife, with reports his name is at the centre of a £10million bidding war by TV executives, with claims that he could be headed to GB news or Rupert Murdoch’s upcoming News UK TV venture.
