‘I’m Not Afraid to Open Up Anymore’- Nick Kyrgios Gives the Secret to His Newly Found Happiness at Miami Open 2022

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is certainly enjoying his tennis at Miami currently. Playing as a wild card entrant, Kyrgios is certainly proving doubters wrong with his inexplicable baseline skills. His energy and trickery are unanswered so far in the tournament.

Nick Kyrgios defeated Italy’s Fabio Fognini in straight sets at the Miami Open and progressed to the pre-quarters where he will most likely meet Jannik Sinner. Former player and Tennis Channel Analyst Prakash Amritraj sat with Kyrgios and asked about his sudden resurgence.

Nick talks about how he overcame his obstacles after reaching Miami Open R16

As energetic as ever, Kyrgios put forward his thoughts about the dark phase of his life before explaining how he changed it all. 

“I was away from my family for a while. I got a good, tight-knit group of people around me now and I’m not afraid to open up anymore. I think that’s the biggest thing.”

He further added, “I think, men around, males my age struggle to really coming out, it’s sort of weakness or strength. I don’t think that’s the case at all. It’s a sign of strength in a way to be vulnerable.”  

Kyrgios in great “nick” at the moment

The 26-year-old player is in the form of his life right now. Since the Australian Open 2022, Kyrgios lost just one match and is looking strong in Miami. The Aussie’s only defeat came against Rafael Nadal at Indian Wells. 

Except for Nadal, Nick Kyrgios has not lost even a set to his opponents in the Sunshine-double and is maintaining an impressive 6-1 record so far.

Both Indian Wells and Miami events have been Nick’s favorite places to play as he has enjoys great record in both these tournaments. With the Australian looking as positive as ever on-court, one can expect Kyrgios to go deep in Miami and even pull off incredible victories along the way.
