His historic win over Shogun Rua at UFC 128 made him the UFC’s youngest ever champion. Things were only upward for Jon Jones since then. Apart from one controversial disqualification loss that he’s faced, he arguably has one of the greatest track records in all of MMA.

Jon Jones is also the greatest Light Heavyweight in the UFC and has never fought in any other division. However, things have been taking a turn since he vacated his light heavyweight title after his win over Dominic Reyes. Stating that he wants to move up to heavyweight, the 34-year-old seemingly closed his light heavyweight chapter for good.

To break this tweet down, Jones states that his time in light heavyweight has come to a close. The “bad performance” that he’s referring to was against Dominic Reyes, who many people thought was robbed of his win against the MMA GOAT at UFC 247.

Talking about “new energy,” Jones refers to a fresh season that is most likely at heavyweight. This has been a long time coming because it’s been over two years since Jones last fought, and he has been talking about a move to heavyweight ever since then.

Who will Jon Jones fight in the heavyweight division of the UFC?

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones has been speculated to fight a couple of top opponents in the UFC heavyweight division. This, however, seems to have been delayed indefinitely without any progress owing to Jones’s troubles away from the UFC.

The UFC has not announced opponents and dates, and hopefully, it will happen sometime this year. Jones has stated his interest in fighting opponents such as Stipe Miocic, Francis Ngannou, and Ciryl Gane.
