Bafta TV Awards 2022 nominations: It’s A Sin leads with 11 nods with Olly Alexander, Alison Hammond and late Sean Lock among nominees

The nominations for the Bafta TV Awards 2022 have been announced, with acclaimed Channel 4 series It’s A Sin leading the way with an impressive 11 nods, including recognitions for Russell T Davies, Olly Alexander and Lydia West.
Kate Winslet has also been nominated for her performance in Mare Of Easttown, marking her first TV performance nomination, while late comedian Sean Lock – who died at the age of 58 in August 2021 – has received his first Bafta nomination for his work on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Meanwhile, This Morning star Alison Hammond has been recognised in the entertainment performance category, alongside the likes of Graham Norton and Joe Lycett.
Earlier this month, the Bafta film awards took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall, with The Power of the Dog, Dune, Will Smith and Lashana Lynch leading the way as some of the biggest winners of the night.
Just a few days after the Oscars took place in Hollywood – a night filled with jubilant wins and shocking controversies – the nominations for the Virgin Media TV Baftas 2022 have been revealed, with the event due to take place which is due to take place on Sunday May 8 this year.
The British Academy Television Craft Awards will take place the previous month, on Sunday April 24.

Prior to today’s announcement, the nominations for Virgin Media’s must-see moment – the only gong voted for by the public – were unveiled.
They include Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice’s stunning silent dance in celebration of the Deaf community on Strictly Come Dancing, Adele’s emotional reunion with her schoolteacher during a TV special and Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s dig at the Downing Street partygate on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Following It’s A Sin’s 11 gongs, the other top nominees at the Bafta TV Awards this year include drama Landscapers with seven nods; Help, Time and We Are Lady Parts receiving six apiece, Sex Education receive five recognitions and four for A Very British Scandal at the Craft Awards.
