NFL Plus streaming app could launch for just $5 a month as ‘Netflix for football’

THE National Football League is reportedly developing its own mobile streaming service.

Streaming giants like Netflix, Apple TV, and Disney Plus might soon be joined by the NFL, which is currently working on its own streaming app, The Atheltic reported on Monday.

The National Football League is reportedly developing its own mobile streaming service.

Tentatively dubbed NFL Plus, the service would include games, radio, podcasts, and team content, according to NFL officials.

The project was announced on Sunday to the teams at the annual three-day NFL League Meetings in Palm Beach, Florida.

In their presentation, NFL officials showed slides featuring the logo for “NFL +” as well as a hypothetical $5-a-month subscription fee.

Before the service could come to fruition, it must first pass an owners’ vote at the next meeting in May, according to one team president.

The proposed app would likely replace NFL Mobile, which used to be the league’s premier way of bringing in-market games to mobile devices.

Previously, the NFL had a partnership with Verizon and Yahoo to show some live games.

However, the deal with Yahoo ended last year, and in 2017 for Verizon.

Rumors have been floating around for a while that Apple would gain the exclusive rights to NFL games in a single, multibillion-dollar deal.

But now, some experts believed that Amazon and Disney have also expressed interest in the exclusive football content.

If the U.S. gets an NFL streaming service, it would join international markets that already have their own streaming service called NFL Game Pass.

Game Pass offers live games and replays as well as NFL Network and NFL Films content.
