Who has won the most Grammys in history?

One of the most eagerly awaited nights in the entertainment world is almost upon us, as the 2022 Grammy awards take place this weekend.
With a star-studded list of nominees, from Justin Bieber, Lil Nas X and Adele to Kanye West and Olivi Rodrigo, music fans will be waiting with baited breath to see if their favourite brings home the coveted statue.
As well as being a dazzling affair, this year’s ceremony will also include some sombre moments, with a tribute planned for Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins following his tragic death in March.
But with the time ticking down to the 64th annual Grammy awards, fans across the world have some questions.
So, who has won the most Grammys in history, and who is nominated for this year’s awards?

When we think of the world’s biggest acts, we tend to go modern – like Beyonce or Adele – or to the classics, like the Beatles.
But the musician who has won the most Grammys isn’t exactly a household name, though he was hugely respected in the industry.
Georg Solti, a Hungarian-British orchestra conductor, has won the most Grammys in history, with a mind-blowing 31 awards throughout his career.
While you may not recognise his name, the conductor worked on the likes of Apocalypse Now and Casino.
However his wins came from his awe-inspiring opera recordings and conduction of chamber music and choral performances, and in 1996 he received the lifetime achievement award.
The renowned conductor died in 1997 at the age of 84.
The musician with the second-most Grammys in history is, less surprisingly, Beyonce, who currently holds 28 Grammys, making her the most decorated female artist of all time.

The 2022 Grammy awards will take place on Sunday, April 4 2022 local time, or Monday April 5 in the UK.
After two years of a far more subdued affair thanks to the pandemic, the stars will be out in their droves for the glittery event as the entertainment world eagerly awaits to see who will take home the coveted awards.
The ceremony will be held at the luxury MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live at midnight on Sunday night/ Monday morning UK time.

There are some absolutely massive names nominated for the Grammys in 2022, with previous winners Adele, Kanye West and Billie Eilish facing off against relative newcomers including Glass Animals and Olivia Rodrigo.
