My partner and I agreed we wouldn’t have kids but now I want to be a dad
DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE decided I want to be a father but have previously agreed with my partner we wouldn’t have children.
I’m 39 and she is 36. We’ve both got good jobs and we have our own home, two nice cars and enjoy our holidays.
I now feel I’d like to be a dad too, but I’m scared to tell my girlfriend I’ve changed my mind

If she is your priority, then don’t keep on at her about starting a family. Leave it six months or so and then address the subject again.
If she still feels the same way, you may decide you would be better off going your separate ways.
