Urgent hunt for woman who ‘assaulted baby near busy train station’ as police launch probe

POLICE are urgently hunting a woman who was reportedly seen assaulting her baby near a busy train station.

A concerned bystander raised the alarm after seeing the woman allegedly harming the tot near Leyland train station in Lancashire.

Police were scrambled to the area and knocked nearby houses but the pair have not yet been found.

They are now urging anyone with information to come forward to help them track the woman and baby down.

She has been described as white, 5ft 6ins with long brown hair and was wearing a burgundy coat with grey tracksuit underneath.

The baby was aged around two and was in a dark coloured pram with a rain cover and wearing a white hat.

Police said: “The details we have are Moss Lane in Leyland, time 11.35am, where a concerned member of public witnessed a female assaulting her baby.

“Although he rang police she had long gone when we arrived and house to house and CCTV didn’t bring any leads.

“He (member of the public ) thinks they may have walked down Chapel Brow.

“If anyone has any knowledge about this incident or perhaps the description of the female has struck a chord with someone, please ring 101 quoting Log 20220404-0434.”
