“Keegan Thompson Did It the Wrong Way”- Milwaukee Brewers Star Andrew McCutchen Believes Chicago Cubs Pitcher Hit Him Intentionally
Hit by a pitch has become a normal trend in the 2022 season. In just two days of the regular season, MLB has witnessed more than five hit-by-pitch incidents. Earlier on Saturday, during the Cubs-Brewers game, Andrew McCutchen also became a victim of HBP.
However, McCutchen seems to be okay after being hit by a nasty pitch by the Chicago Cubs pitcher Keegan Thompson. Notably, the HBP incident led to the second benches clearing in the first two days of the 2022 season.
After the game on day 2, Andrew McCutchen opened up about the HBP incident and said that the Cubs pitcher Keegan Thompson hit him intentionally to hurt him.

The tone was never soft throughout the game. At first, when the Chicago Cubs were batting, the Brewers pitchers hit them thrice. So it was clear that the Cubs pitcher would do the same. But McCutchen was not ready to get hit from the very first pitch.

After the game, McCutchen admitted that he knew he’ll get hit. But he didn’t expect them to drill him on the first pitch. The Brewers outfielder also complained that Keegan Thompson did it the wrong way.
“Everybody and their mom knew when I came up to bat, I was gonna get hit,” McCutchen argued. “But by throwing a first-pitch slider away for a strike and then coming back in to drill him, Keegan Thompson did it the wrong way.”

Notably, Thompson’s ball hit directly against McCutchen’s butt. But thankfully, it didn’t cause any serious injury, else he wouldn’t have been able to play for a while. The Brewers star also expressed that Thompson didn’t try to hit him, but hurt him.
“I do take that a little personal when you’re throwing off-speed pitches the first pitch and then you’re trying to hit somebody. To hurt him? That’s exactly what you’re trying to do. You’re not just trying to hit him, you’re trying to hurt him,” added Andrew McCutchen.

However, despite all the brawls, the Cubs dominated the Brewers and won the game 9-0.
