NBA Twitter Trolls Lakers After LeBron James’ Endorsement of Coaching Candidate
After a disappointing season, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a new head coach to replace Frank Vogel. The NBA team failed to make it to the play-in game even with a star-studded roster, prompting for a coaching change. Unsurprisingly, LeBron James seems to have his own take on the coach the team will hire.
Among certain names being considered, former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson is a possible hire for the team.

James, as per reports, is in favor of Jackson coaching the team. Unfortunately, however, fans don’t seem impressed with James‘ decision. While most were against Jackson being the head coach itself, James’ approval did nothing to help their point of view.
Fans against LeBron James’ decision to hire Mark Jackson as coach
According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, James is in favor of hiring Jackson as the coach. Of course, that does not mean the Lakers will ultimately hire Jackson. That being said, most are aware that James’ word has some weight and say in the NBA. In fact, fans believe that a team might trade or sign players/coaches to appease the 37-year-old icon.
Of course, what the fans say might be far from the truth.
However, fans remained unimpressed with James’ choice, irrespective of what the team decided.
Lebron never learns this would be a disaster https://t.co/GF9cUHBtdi

He couldn’t get the Warriors to win with Steph & Klay, how is he an option for any team? You don’t speak for all Lakers fans after a Rambis & Jackson recommendation

LeBron is NOT gonna like if Jackson holds him accountable on defense.

Pelinka: “If LeBron is on board, we would love to make you our new head coach.”

Lebron should be fired from the front office after this past season. https://t.co/TWLkQw3Cth

Many believe that hiring Jackson could be a disaster for the team, and believe that James has not learned that he should stay out of this decision. Fans believe that Rob Pelinka would make decisions based on what James would want, and would probably hire a coach who the four-time NBA Champion likes.
Furthermore, one question stands out, how can Jackson help the Lakers if he could not help the Warriors win?
Jackson, who has been commentating for the past few years, last worked as a head coach for the Warriors (2011 to 2014). While he led them to the playoffs, it was Steve Kerr who brought home the elusive title.
While a short percentage of people just refused Jackson as the choice, many were just hoping that James simply does not choose the head coach.

Why did Frank Vogel not work out for the Lakers?
Following the team’s 2019-20 championship at the NBA Bubble in Orlando, the team’s performance declined. The 2020-21 season saw James and Anthony Davis suffer because of injuries, which ultimately derailed their season with hopes of a stronger return. This year, Russell Westbrook’s addition was to be their ticket to another NBA Final.

However, the roster failed to perform. The team finished 11th in the Western Conference and failed to make the play-ins. As a result, Vogel was eventually let go. Hopefully, with a new coach, the team and its fans hope for a change in atmosphere.
