Kevin Durant Picking Joel Embiid for MVP Makes NBA Twitter Go Wild
The NBA MVP award this season is not without drama. Joel Embiid is up against Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, who, as per Kevin Durant, won’t be winning. Durant seemed to have a reasoning for his conclusion, launching into an explanation about likeability and how one plays on the course.
Fans, however, had some varied reaction on Durant’s opinion.
KD said his pick for MVP would be Joel Embiid. As for the narrative aspect of the MVP race — as it pertains to votes, Durant knows it’s out of Embiid’s control. “In Joel’s case, more people like Giannis and Jokic. It’s as simple as that.”

While a few fans agreed, a few were against what Durant was stating as a whole. Some had an issue with his reasoning, even though they did want Embiid to become the MVP and win more.
Fans react to Kevin Durant’s MVP claim
According to Durant, people simply like Jokic and Giannis more than they like Embiid. As a result, Embiid might not win his MVP award. “It’s as simple as that. His personality, his story I guess,” Durant added. “As a basketball player, if people look at just the game and what is on the floor”.

The two-time NBA Champion further elaborated, explaining how one’s personality should not matter. Ultimately, Durant believes they just like the other guys better. He even mentioned that Jokic had an incredible season, but Embiid did as well. And one should give him credit for doing so.
KD mad he ain’t beat Giannis since June 2021 I get it https://t.co/hiP6xyqkUk

The players have been leaning Embiid all year and the fact that media members just blatantly don’t factor that in is hysterical. I get the conflict of interest, but players and coaches should still have the vote

I hate Kd cause when Giannis was on the come up he was saying Giannis my favorite player to watch now Devin is on the come up and its his favorite player to watch UNTIL HE GETS TO HIS LVL AND HE STARTS HATIN AND SWITCHING SUBJECTS

KD literally almost single-handedly beat the Bucks by himself I doubt he is upset.

Who do you think has a more insightful opinion on basketball? Kevin Durant, or Bill Simmons? https://t.co/259gYqLw7q

One of the first things fans spoke about was the playoffs last year, where Giannis won against Durant. For many, KD seems to hold a grudge against Giannis even today. As per some users, KD would do anything to speak against Giannis. Some fans supported Durant, wondering what people on Twitter knew about basketball over the Nets star.
Fans even added that while Giannis might be more universally like, Jokic and Embiid probably share a similar amount of following.
Others even spoke about NBA stars favoring Embiid over the media, who have been focusing on Jokic and then Giannis.
Who will win the NBA MVP honor?
Interestingly, if Jokic wins, this will be his second straight MVP award. Giannis, on his end, has already secured his back-to-back MVP award in 2019 and 2020. If he wins this year, he will be one of the very few NBA icons to win three times.

Durant himself has won once in 2014, back when he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder. His career has come a long way since then. The 33-year-old has won two titles with the Warriors, and is currently playing with Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn.Unfortunately, there is no one way to confirm who will take home the NBA MVP honor.
