As the 2022 World Athletics Championships come to Oregon, it is time for new athletes to showcase their talents. However, there is one legend who is preparing to go out in style. The most decorated track and field Olympian, Allyson Felix, is bidding goodbye.
Ever since she made her debut in Athens, she dominated the track and won 11 Olympic medals.
After competing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 36-year-old spoke about calling time on her glittering athletic career. She won the bronze medal for her signature 400-meter event, as well as gold in the 4×400m relay event.
Golden girl Allyson Felix to retire
Felix, who will run her last athletics season, penned a heartwarming note on Instagram about her retirement plans. Other than being a legendary athlete, Felix is an advocate for working mothers.
Back in 2018, she had complications that led to an emergency C-section to give birth to her lovely daughter Camryn. Recovering from setbacks, her passion for the sport remained the same as she continued to train and hone her craft. Thus, after so many years of unparalleled success, she ends her career for her daughter.
“I have given everything I have to running and for the first time I’m not sure if I have anything left to give. I want to say goodbye and thank you to the sport and people who have helped shape me the only way I know how—with one last run.”

Having a blistering career from start to finish, she transitioned smoothly from running the 200m to the 400m and tasted success in both events. Apart from being an athlete, she also turned into a successful entrepreneur.
Felix stepped into entrepreneurship with ‘Saysh’
Allyson Felix had a dispute with Nike over her contract details in 2017. She was dumbfounded after the mega-brand offered her a 70% pay cut. From there, she focused on women’s apparel and dropped Nike for Athleta. With the help of a few designers, she established her shoe named ‘Saysh’, which offers some of the best sprinting shoes.
