Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson Driven to Tears on Watching Rose Namajunas’s Post Fight Interview During UFC 261

The Joe Rogan Experience truly has its moments sometimes. What starts off as a pure conversation about a bunch of topics loosely stringed together, things on Joe Rogan’s podcast can sometimes end on a very profound note. Fans know for a fact that any podcast or interview that features Mike Tyson is likely to be a hit in terms of the invaluable knowledge that the legendary boxer offers. 

Talking about how emotional fighting can be, Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson on The Joe Rogan Experience episode #1805 looked at a famous clip of Rose Namajunas, who after her win against Zhang Weili for the UFC Strawweight championship was immediately moved to tears and uttered a specific phrase that lives on in her career.

Rogan regarding Rose Namajunas calling herself as “the best,” had this to say about the Strawweight champion. “Rose is no joke, man. She’s so serious. And when she was, before that fight, this was uh, I talked to her about it in the post fight interview. She was standing there while they were like introducing the fighters. She’s sitting there going, ‘I’m the best! I’m the best! I’m the best!’ She’s kept saying that.”

They proceeded to then watch a footage of Namajunas crying during her post fight interview with Joe Rogan. After the clip, Rogan added, “I mean, come on. How do you not love her? I mean, look at her crying like that.” Rogan and Tyson both were driven to tears, looking at Namajunas, being overwhelmed with emotion after winning the battle.

Tyson is lauded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. Tyson was known to be an absolute monster both inside and outside the ring. And for Mike Tyson to be driven to tears must mean that Namajunas’ moment was truly something special that he resonated with.

Mike Tyson went on to add how emotional and spiritual fighting actually is. Joe Rogan and Tyson, both being martial artists, can definitely find this as the strongest common ground between the both of them. 

Mike Tyson also previously stated that he used to cry before a lot of his fights. Fighters crying due to fear of their opponents or of failure are common. Tyson apparently used to cry because he was so worried as to what he might do to his opponent.
