Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have led the Brooklyn Nets to a playoff qualification after beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the play-in tournament. They won 115-108, and they had momentum from the get go. As such, the Brooklyn Nets ended the first quarter with a massive lead of 20 points. The score was 40-20, and the Cavaliers were left to chase the scoreline all game.
Even after winning all three following quarters, the Cavs could not lessen the gap of 20 points between them and the Nets. Durant scored 25 points, 11 assists and 5 rebounds. But the star of the show was Kyrie Irving. He dropped a 34 point game. Additionally, he also had 12 assists and 3 rebounds.
This season has had some struggles for Durant and the Brooklyn Nets.Furthermore, Irving was also unavailable for most of the home games this season. But ever since James Harden left them in February and Kyrie came back, the Nets have looked solid. Moreover, Durant has had an amazing season individually. He has averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists this season. This is better than his career average and points wise it has been his best season since 2014.

Kawhi Leonard or Kevin Durant?
The Clippers missed the talent of Kawhi Leonard all season. He could not feature all season because of the ACL tear he suffered. The season might have looked different if the Clippers had a healthy Leonard in their ranks. However, this was not the case and Cleveland fell out of the play-in tournament after the loss against Trae Young’s Atlanta Hawks. Having said that, nobody can deny that 2019 Leonard was a different breed. The fans on twitter take their picks between KD and Kawhi in a detailed thread.

Kawhi 2019 was great, but so were the rest of the Raptors. The entire 2019 Raptors team was as solid as it gets in basketball, which is a team sport but always seems to glorify its “stars”.

Kawhi Leonard and KD are two great players and their career is proof that they will go down as one of the elite players that ever played in the NBA. Unsurprisingly, there have been questions on the fitness and injury ‘prone-ness’ of Kawhi. Whereas there have been questions about KD’s consistency. Unfortunately, there will always be questions around great players whenever they are not at their absolute best. That is just the nature of the game, especially for outstanding players. KD now has an opportunity to shine against the Celtics in the first round as the playoffs guarantee a lot of excitement and thrilling games.
