“How Did NBC Allow You to Do This?”: NASCAR Fans Go Crazy as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jumps Into the Broadcasting Booth for Talladega

It seems as if the NASCAR Gods have listened to the prayers of the NASCAR fans amidst the nightmare of a show from a broadcasting standpoint at Bristol. FOX was criticized by all ends of the community for the way it presented the race. But now, they’ve enrolled a name for Talladega that can single-handedly nullify the criticism and improve their broadcasting – Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The JR Motorsports owner was recently announced to be joining the booth alongside Clint Bowyer and Mike Joy for the superspeedway race next weekend.

Looking forward to doing some work next weekend. No better place than @TALLADEGA for me. Appreciate this opportunity to work with @mikejoy500 and @ClintBowyer. https://t.co/XouyeftiTi

However, what surprised most NASCAR fans along with the delight of his announcement, was Dale Jr’s commitments.

The thing is, Earnhardt Jr is under contract with NBC Sports, so him, somehow being able to negotiate or work his way around that and join FOX Sports in the booth is an incredible thing.

OMG…You and Bowyer…at Talladega? Now THAT’S gonna be fun! Really would like to know how’d ya make that happen? Can’t believe NBC would be agreeable to it!

@DaleJr maybe you can give @NASCARONFOX some production pointers on how to improve their broadcasts while you’re there.

No one is “more equipped” to call a race at Talladega than Dale Earnhardt Jr

After the announcement of him joining the booth, FOX Sports President Production & Operation and Executive Producer, Brad Zager called Dale Earnhardt Jr. the perfect choice to call a race like Talladega.

“Dale joining us in the booth says so much about his love of the sport of NASCAR, and there is absolutely no one more equipped to call a race at Talladega,” he said. “We appreciate that he is willing to share his time and experience for the upcoming FOX NASCAR race from one of NASCAR’s most popular venues, and we are grateful to NBC Sports for letting Dale spend some time with us.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr said he’s “really looking forward” to joining Mike Joy, Clint Bowyer, and Larry McReynolds.

“Calling a race from Talladega is an incredibly fun experience. You absolutely have to be on your toes at all times … it doesn’t take much for all hell to break loose,” he added.
