Preservation group The Hidden Palace has unveiled Project Deluge, a massive collection of old builds of PlayStation 2 games.

Quite a few game prototypes have managed to find their way online so far this year. The unreleased Xbox remaster of GoldenEye, a beta of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, an old build of Star Fox Adventures; now, we can add over 700 PlayStation 2 prototypes to that list.

Recently, preservation group The Hidden Palace shared an enormous list of 752 builds for PlayStation 2 games, all of which have been confirmed to not match the versions that were released.

Under the name Project Deluge, the group has been amassing and archiving these materials over the course of many years, which it states was only possible thanks to an unnamed individual who ‘has taken on the Herculean task of dumping every single thing in the lot by themselves.’

The group claims that all the prototypes have been assessed for integrity, meaning they should work when downloaded via emulation or onto hardware.

Some interesting highlights from the full list include previews of both Final Fantasy 10 and its direct sequel, review builds of a couple of Ratchet & Clank games, and an E3 demo build of Shadow Of The Colossus from 2005.

There’s also a second list of builds that consists of duplicates of final releases, with some only having very minor differences. While not as long, it’s still an impressive collection of 287 games.

What’s more, this isn’t even going to be the end of it, as The Hidden Palace intends on uploading even more prototypes in the future. So, expect even more cult classics, lesser known games, and bizarre tie-ins.

You can check out demonstrations of some of the games included on The Hidden Palace’s Twitch channel, which held a six-hour long stream to do so. If you don’t have that time to spare, the channel includes highlights of specific games too.
