Fulham promoted to Premier League and land £200m windfall as Marco Silva’s side make instant return from Championship

FULHAM are officially back in the big time after a brief one-year hiatus.

A 3-0 win over Preston North End at Craven Cottage secured promotion to the Premier League – plus a whopping £200million windfall.

Fulham secured promotion to the Premier League with four games to spareRex

A shock defeat away at Derby on Good Friday, followed by Nottingham Forest’s win on Monday, meant the promotion party was briefly put on hold.

But an Aleksandar Mitrovic double, plus a Fabio Carvalho strike, ensured Fulham’s promotion back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Marco Silva’s side did it with four games to spare, and banked a mouthwatering sum of money in the process.

It will be a third season in the last five competing against the country’s elite.

Previous promotions in 2017-18 and 2019-20, both through the play-offs, resulted in immediate relegation back to the second tier.

This time though Fulham are all but certain to boast the added gloss of Championship winners.

Silva and Co lead second-place Bournemouth by nine points after tonight’s result, with the Cherries having just five games left to play.

The west Londoners have blown away the competition this season – largely thanks to the goalscoring exploits of Serbian striker Mitrovic.

It smashes the previous Championship record of goals in a season set 12 months ago by Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who scored 31.

Mitrovic though has hit 40… with four games still left to go.
