‘I had pretty much written it off’ – Punter scoops £9,450 payout just six months after colossal £98,000 accumulator win

FEW would have raised an eyebrow when Dwight McNeil cut inside and leathered an effort over the crossbar during Burnley’s 2-0 victory over Southampton.

But that 87th-minute effort helped one lucky punter scoop a monster £9,450!

James Tarkowski helped this punter scoop a massive £9,450!GETTY

Shrewd bettor Jordan Sayward-Jones is no stranger to a sizeable win having raked in £98,000 on card betting six months ago.

Last night he placed a £75 stake with Sky Bet on a RequestABet special at huge odds of 125/1.

He backed McNeil to have 4+ shots, defender James Tarkowski to have 2+ shots and Burnley to have 6+ corners during Thursday’s clash at Turf Moor.

But with 85 minutes on the clock, things weren’t looking so good.

Six corners were wrapped up less than ten minutes into the second half but Sayward-Jones still needed one shot from both McNeil and Tarkowski.

And to make matters worse, Burnley were preparing to bring on Matthew Lowton for McNeil.

The winning slip

Sky Bet odds

Dwight McNeil to have 4+ shots
James Tarkowski to take 2+ shots
Burnley to have 6+ corners

Stake: £75
Odds: 125/1
Returned: £9,450

However, with just five minutes remaining the Clarets won a corner and centre-back Tarkowski fired an effort towards goal.

One. More. Needed.

Charlie Taylor sent a long diagonal pass over to McNeil on the right flank, who brought it down before pinging one over from just outside the penalty area.

Thanks!, yeah I had pretty much written it off as McNeill had only 3 shots and was about to be subbed, luckily his final touch was a shot and Tarkowski then had his second in the same phase of play.

Responding to a comment on Twitter, he said: “I had pretty much written it off as McNeill had only 3 shots and was about to be subbed.

“Luckily his final touch was a shot and Tarkowski then had his second in the same phase of play.”

Few will remember that passage of play (for good reason…), but this Sky Bet customer certainly will.
