Were Marshawn Lynch and Aaron Rodgers Ever Teammates?

Many fans have witnessed the friendship between quarterbacks and receivers. Fans may recall Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski being the best friends and teammates. But, they can also add Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch to the list. While it may look as unusual as it seems, both athletes have an illustrious history during their college days. But have they been on the same team ever?

While Marshawn ‘Beast Mode’ Lynch is no more an active competitor in the sport, the former RB established a legacy; of being one of the finest in the league.

The Aaron Rodgers-Marshawn Lynch Connection

NFL fans have witnessed both Rodgers and Lynch competing against each other. What they may not realize is that both athletes were members of one of Cal’s most illustrious football clubs. Both Marshawn Lynch and Aaron Rodgers moved through to have great careers in the National Football League.

The SB Nation’s Field Gulls Podcast features Marshawn Lynch. During the episode, the ‘Beast Mode’ honors his former college buddy for supporting his back since day one, even after 17 years.

He mentions, “A-Rod did some sh*t that made me, you feel me though, I feel be able to get another opportunity again. Once you a freshman getting to play with the first team, everything you do has to be on the money.

According to NBC Sports, The veteran Seahawks running back and Green Bay Packers quarterback, both University of California alumni, captained Cal to a 10-1 campaign back in 2004, missing only by six points to top-ranked USC. The Golden Bears seemed to be set for the Rose Bowl. However, they were bypassed by Texas for a position in the game.

Aaron Rodgers recounts forming ‘fast friends’ in 2004, according to Sports Illustrated. Lynch, who only played one year with the Packers quarterback, is one of his all-time favorite colleagues. He also describes the RB as having a great persona and being a real blast being around. Moreover, both of them came close to reuniting in the NFL during the 2010 campaign, when the Packers were negotiating a deal with Lynch’s former team, the Buffalo Bills.

The final dance between Lynch & Rodgers

Both Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch were on the verge of reuniting in 2010, but a proposed deal between both the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers broke through. Yet, Lynch eventually ended up with the Seattle Seahawks.

At Lambeau Field, the long-time buddies faced each other. Aaron Rodgers, the 36-year-old quarterback vying for a second Super Bowl ring, faced Lynch, who came off his retirement to assist his previous club after ailments decimated the running back active roster.

The Packers defeated the 49ers Seahawks 28-23 to go to the NFC Championship Game in San Francisco. Lynch pushed as tough as he could despite Rodgers’ excellent play. Lynch entered the Packers’ dressing room just after the game to share talks and, perhaps, jerseys with Rodgers as well.

While RB Lynch is retired from the NFL, he continues to showcase his affection for Aaron Rodgers, who commits his future to the Green Bay Packers.
