It might far from ready for the important summer BBQ right now, but gardening expert Richard Jackson shared his top tips for a luscious lawn.
His first tip is to mow way more often than you think is necessary.
“Most people mow their lawns far too low, scalping the grass, or too infrequently, both of which weaken it and allow weeds and moss to establish.”
Richard explained that if you want a lush lawn you need to get the mower out more often, “whenever it reaches a height that can be cut,” in fact.

He said: “Ideally, you should simply ‘tip’ the grass at each mow, and certainly not removing more than one-third of its height at any cut.”
Next don’t underestimate the power of watering your grass.
It’s easy to forget, but grass is still a plant and needs some H₂O as much as your blooms do.
Richard shared: “Of course, lawns nearly always bounce back and recover in autumn after a drought even if they haven’t been watered.

“But the lack of grass growth encourages lawn weeds and moss growth.”
You lawn needs food as well as water, and lawn feeds have all the vital nutrients that it craves.
“Regular mowing removes a lot of nutrients, and for a lawn that looks fabulous, lush and green,” he explained.
“You need to replace these nutrients with a lawn feed. Good feeding also makes the grass thicker, stronger and healthier.”
Moss and weeds can be a pain to get rid of, nut your lawn will look so much better for it.

But if you want to avoid all the extra work, there is another option.
Moss and weed killers and be sprinkled over your lawn to get rid of them for good.
“It is the easy, care-free organic way to a beautiful, moss-free lawn. And, there’s no need to take out the moss afterwards, which can be back-breaking work – nature does all the hard work for you!”
And if your lawn is looking a bit patchy or uneven, reseeding can get it back to being thick and lush.
Richard advises: “Simply scatter grass seed over the whole lawn and work it into the soil with the back of a rake or similar and water it in.
“Apart from regular care, this is the secret weapon used by greenkeepers and grounds people to produce quality greens and pitches.”
