Pittsburgh Steelers Activate TJ Watt Ahead of Meeting with Lamar Jackson and Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers have activated their star linebacker, TJ Watt, off of the reserve list as announced by them Saturday morning. Following that, the defensive prospect will be eligible against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. On Monday, the linebacker was on the COVID/reserve list, which put his Week 13 availability in jeopardy.

However, the Steelers have been sending Watt practice tape all week, according to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala. Due to which he is well prepared for their game plan for the Ravens during his quarantine.

The Steelers enter the AFC North battle with a 5-5-1 record so far this season and secure third place below the Ravens and Bengals. However, with five games to go in the regular season, they do stand a chance to make the playoffs if they pick up from here. And their win against the Ravens is a must as they show no signs to slow down.

TJ Watt to return for the Pittsburgh Steelers

TJ Watt has played nine games for the Steelers this season so far. Watt has recorded 12.5 sacks and 41 tackles (13 for loss) and is a contender for the AP Defensive Player of the Year award. He had just recently returned to the squad during the last Sunday’s loss to the Bengals after missing the Week 11 matchup against the Chargers with a hip and knee injury.

Watt would be the first player to return from a positive COVID test in such a short time. Because athletes are only tested once a week, Watt may have been tested positive for the virus shortly after a negative test the week before. As a result, he might be 10 days or more distant from initially getting infected with the virus.

However, he’s just one negative test away from facing the Lamar Jackson-led Ravens on Sunday. And if he tests negative on Saturday, it would be fantastic news for the Steelers.
