Nasa dedicates cosmic rose to Dame Angela Lansbury with stunning photo after Murder She Wrote icon’s death aged 96-Alicia Adejobi-Entertainment – Metro
A fitting tribute to a screen legend.

There’s a rose waiting for Dame Angela Lansbury in space thanks to a touching tribute from Nasa following the iconic actress’ death.
The actress, best known for starring in classic TV series Murder She Wrote, died at her home in Los Angeles on Tuesday aged 96, her family confirmed.
As tributes began pouring in for the much-loved actress, Nasa went the extra mile by having their Spitzer Space Telescope capture the most stunning cosmic shot in memory of the late star.
Referencing lyrics from Disney’s 1991 classic Beauty and the Beast, in which Dame Angela voiced Mrs Potts, a tweet from Nasa read: ‘Tale as old as time. True as it can be
‘In memory of Angela Lansbury, we offer this cosmic rose plucked by our Spitzer Space Telescope.’
Their followers were blown away by the ‘wonderful’ tribute, with one writing: ‘That is so beautiful.’
‘That is beautiful and made me cry. Well done @NASA,’ another commented.
One heartwarmed fan weighed in: ‘How lovely and fitting.’
‘I wasn’t crying until I saw this. This is a stunning image and a beautiful tribute from all of you at NASA,’ one wrote.
Another commented: ‘Such a beautifully moving tribute to #AngelaLandsbury May she Rest In Peace amongst the stars.’

Announcing Dame Angela’s death, her family said in a statement: ‘The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday.
‘In addition to her three children, Anthony, Deirdre and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Ian, plus five great grandchildren and her brother, producer Edgar Lansbury.
‘She was proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Peter Shaw.’
The family plan on holding a private funeral at a later date. A cause of death for the actress has not been revealed.
Dame Angela became a staple on screens in the 1980s and 90s starring as mystery author Jessica Fletcher on CBS’ long-running series Murder, She Wrote, in which she starred opposite Tom Bosley, William Windom and Ron Masak.
She was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame in 1996, and later made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II in 2014.
