I worked at TK Maxx – shoppers can return anything, even undies, but there’s a purchase we won’t refund you for
A FORMER TK Maxx employee has spilled the beans about one of the nation’s most-moved discount stores, including the purchase you will never get refunded for.
With more than a whopping 350 branches across the UK, it’s safe to say that TK Maxx has earned reputation as one of Brits’ favourite retailers.

One former employee, who worked at TK Maxx for five years, took to TikTok to spill the beans about the retailertiktok/@paayyattention
But as much as we love stocking up on their cut-price goodies, whether that’s designer gear on the cheap on bits for your home makeover, do we know what’s really going on behind the tills?
One person who claims to do so is ex-employee only known as Patience (@paayyattention) on TikTok.
Since leaving the job, the former staff member, 23, has revealed numerous secrets about the store, including the exact time when you can bag the ultimate bargains.
And now the Manchester-based beauty has taken to the social media platform to spill the beans about all things refund – and more.
According to the former worker, who quit last November after working there for five years, customers ”can return pretty much everything”.
”Guys, when I say anything, I mean anything. You can return underwear, you can return shoes, you can return pots that you’ve used, you can return blenders – you can return anything,” she informed shoppers in the video.
However, there is one item the shop is ”very strict on” when it comes refunds – and that’s earrings.
Meanwhile, if you’ve popped into the store to get your money back – but have forgotten or lost the receipt – there is an easy way to get around it.
For instance, she claimed in the clip, if you bought something three months ago but haven’t been using it, you can go to the store and show a bank statement with something purchased within the last month.
According to Patience, as long as the sum is the same and the purchase has been made in the last four weeks or so, the staff will refund you.
”We’ll accept that. Guys, when I tell you they don’t even give a heck – they’ve got 16-year-ols running the tills. Like, they don’t know anything that’s happening there.”
Another pro tip the ex-employee mentioned was to never wear the lingerie right after buying it without chucking the garments into the washing machine.
”If you buy anything in the lingerie – bras, panties, boxers – guys, do not wear it as soon as you get home.
How Does TK Maxx Flog Designer for Cheap?

”People can try them on in the fitting rooms, these people are nasty.”
Since being shared on TikTok, where the 23-year-old beauty regularly posts lifestyle-related content, the video has racked up more than a whopping 150 comments.
Amongst the viewers were also some people who claimed to worked at TK Maxx too, with one writing: ”I also worked there for 5 years! The managers used to switch tickets to clearance!”
A customer chimed in: ”Yes I return a whole pots and pan set without a receipt well over whole year later but they had tags on.
”They scanned them to check it was theirs but still got all my money back.”
