Ed Sheeran has angered Manchester United fans after interrupting an interview with manager Ruben Amorim on Sky Sports.

The Shape Of You singer, 33, strolled up while Ruben, 39, gave his post-match analysis following his team’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich on Sunday.

Presenter Kelly Cates paused her interview with Ruben to remark on Ed’s unexpected appearance after he embraced pundit Jamie Redknapp, 51,

Hinting it was not the best moment for Ed to rear his head, Kelly told him: ‘Ruben may not want to talk to an Ipswich fan.’

Jamie also politely hurried the Perfect popstar along and instructed him to ‘say a hello in a minute’ and ‘have a chat’ later before shaking his hand.

On X, Ed’s intrusion went down like a lead balloon, with @TheoCartz fuming: ‘Embarrassing from Sky as always!! Disrespectful to the gaffer. Midway through interviewing him for the first time. I’d boycott talking to them in future!’

@Chipsricefood raged: ‘Unprofessional from Sky Sports.’

Echoing their sentiment, @adam_couser said: ‘Can’t help but think this is insanely disrespectful.’

@andrews208619 added: ‘Very rude!! He couldn’t wait until Redknapp had finished to go and say hello. I don’t remember Jamie jumping on stage at one of his gigs to say hello.’

Ed’s Sky Sports cameo comes after he claimed Sir Bob Geldof did not obtain his ‘permission’ to use his vocals in the 40th-anniversary mix of Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas?

He recently shared that he would have ‘respectfully’ declined to appear in the new version of the charity song, and referenced another post criticising foreign aid in Africa.

Responding to the comments in a new interview, Sir Bob told The Sunday Times: ‘This little pop song has kept millions of people alive.

‘Why would Band Aid scrap feeding thousands of children dependent on us for a meal?’

Elsewhere, Ed could be tuning up his guitar for a return to Glastonbury  2025.

The chart-topper last headlined at Worthy Farm in 2017, but attendees may be welcoming him back for a ‘really special’ set next June.

It’s been claimed that the Bad Habits hitmaker is already in talks with festival organiser Emily Eavis.

‘Ed adores performing at Glastonbury and getting to sing to so many fans on a massive scale.

‘He hasn’t got any big UK gigs lined up next summer, so this would be really special,’ a source claimed.
