We knew Taylor Swift had star power but the latest data coming out of the record-breaking Edinburgh Eras Tour show proved her influence over nature itself.

The Anti-Hero hitmaker recently thanked the 73,000 fans who flocked to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh at the weekend to celebrate the opening of the UK leg of her acclaimed Eras Tour.

But little did she know just what impact they had.

While the mammoth crowd size every night meant the Love Story singer broke the all-time attendance record for a stadium show in Scotland three times in a row, this wasn’t the only shocking stat from the night.

Altogether up to 220,000 fans shivered their way through the three-hour concerts alongside Taylor.

And now, The British Geological Survey (the national body responsible for recording earthquakes) has released data from the first night to show the geological consequences in the face of Taylor’s star power.

While Swifties were boogying away to Taylor’s top dance hits Shake It Off, Ready For It?, and Cruel Summer, the ground beneath their feet was trembling enough to cause a rumble of seismic proportions.

According to the earthquake monitors, fans reached a peak at 160 beats per minute while dancing to Ready For It?, with the BGS saying the crowd was transmitting around 80kW of energy – equivalent to around 10-16 car batteries.

And dancing was the only hazard. Data also showed that the four-minute applause to Champagne Problems also caused a spike. Friday recorded 23.4 nanometres (nm) of movement.

Not only that but the tremors were picked up at two monitoring stations, the furthest away of which was their office in Lyell Centre, around 3.7 miles away.

Callum Harrison, BGS Seismologist, shared that it was ‘amazing’ and a ‘thrill’ to measure the reaction of ‘thousands of concertgoers’.

He added: ‘Clearly Scotland’s reputation for providing some of the most enthusiastic audiences remains well intact!’

And the 34-year-old star is in hard agreement.

In an Instagram post praising fans, she wrote: ‘Edinburgh you truly blew me away this weekend.’

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Taylor repeat the near mini-earthquake feat as she continues her tour around the UK and Europe in the following weeks, considering her massive (and enthusiastic) fanbase.

From heartbroken Gen Zers to stern-faced businessmen, there are few demographics the Tortured Poets Department singer hasn’t been able to reach.

She boasts 105 million monthly listeners on Spotify, making her the most streamed artist on the music platform of all time.

No surprise considering her 11 studio albums and four re-recorded albums (so far) and countless extended versions and surprise song drops.

Her headline-making Eras Tour also comes alongside her official status as a billionaire, making her worldwide platform bigger than ever.
